2 Weeks old!

Baby Brother Chase is 2 weeks old!!

He has become an adored part of this family!  The girls can't seem to get enough.  He is showered with hugs, kisses, attention, toys, and a little finger always putting a pacifier in his mouth.
He is so peaceful and easy!  God is so gracious!  He is eating good and sleeping wonderful.  His awake times during the day are slowly increasing and he is up every 3 hours at night. He feeds at 9, midnight, 3, and 6 and begins to stir within a 5 minute window of that time...it's impressive.
This week he went back to the doctor to check on weight. He weighed in at 9 pounds 13 ounces (86% for weight) and 22.25 inches (96% for height).  We are slowly getting back to birth weight...

My little monster had his first at home bath this week.  He seemed to really enjoy it...even in his pink bath sling.

Dale's parents
We also started tummy time this week!  He did great and can move his head from side to side and plays without any fuss.  I have to watch closely though because tummy time means cuddle time (smother time) from the girls!

Kid Quip

Yesterday Dale took Samantha potty and as she was sitting on the toilet Dale said to her. "You know Samantha another word for going potty is urination."

Samantha crinkled up her nose, "My not a nation!"

"No Samantha, urination is another word for going potty."

Her voice escalated and she said in frustration "My NOT a nation, I am Mantha!!"

1 week old!

Little Chase Robert is 1 week old!!

We had an appointment at 5 days old and he weighed 9 pounds 8 oz and was in the 88.55 percentile for weight. He has only lost 6% of his weight since birth which is great!

They were concerned with his high levels of bilirubin and possible jaundice but thankfully that appointment showed the numbers were decreasing.

He was able to wear some newborn clothes this week but has quickly moved into 0-3 month clothing.
Chase loves to be held and loves to cuddle.  He is doing well sleeping in his crib and has just started having 2 awake periods during the day but otherwise sleeps. He seems to enjoy his sisters and has done really well tolerating the not so gentle love baby Danielle gives him (smile). He only cries when he's hungry or has a dirty diaper and has a peaceful and gentle way about him.
Chase is a great eater and eats every 1.5 to 3 hours. He is taking half breast milk and half formula.  Just like with my other 2 children I have struggled keeping up with his needs but he does well switching between me and the bottle. We are absolutely adoring having little Chase in our lives!!  I am LOVING having a baby and can hold him for hours!

Welcoming Baby Brother

Tuesday Feb 21, I went to the OB and it was decided at that appointment that at 5:30 am the next morning I was going to be induced...the baby was just too big. I went home and proceeded to iron out all the details involving the girls and the the little things necessary for the next morning. That evening Samantha went down super early and Dale's parents joined us for pizza dinner. Then as I sat on the couch I felt a little warmth..."holy cow I just peed myself"...as I try to sneak out to the bathroom.  I didn't make but a few feet and the real culprit showed itself...my water broke!!  And broke EVERYWHERE!!  It continued to pour out for over 20 minutes....and we used every towel in the house.

Dale's parents stayed with the girls and Dale and I headed to the hospital.  I was admitted and put into my room. I had yet to start having contractions and the doctor would allow me 6 hours to start labor on my own before he would begin an induction. My goal was to start labor on my own by 1:30am.
Labor started by itself about midnight. I was having horrible back labor and by 6cm (3am) was asking for an epidural. I got some much needed rest...
and then it wasn't long before I was 10cm and it was time...
5 contractions later we welcomed our little baby boy...Chase Robert Landis....at 8:32am
He's gorgeous!!  Lots of black hair, dark grey eyes, long fingers and toes, and fat rolls to spare. PERFECTION!

Dr. Nathan delivered Chase and also Samantha.  He is a fabulous doctor and nearly missed the birth of this little guy...everyone expected it to take a bit longer than 5 contractions to get a 10 pound baby out.
Chase loves to eat and loves to sleep. He likes to be held and has a set of lungs on him that could wake the entire apartment complex.

We stayed at the hospital for 24 hours and then took our little guy home.
Welcome to the world Baby Brother Chase...we are SO thrilled and absolutely in love with you already!

Showered by Family

Last weekend Dale's aunts Penny and B.Jo threw me a wonderful shower.  We had great food, tons of laughter, and I was spoiled with gifts.

Dale and I are finally getting a boy and that means that it's time for bugs, snakes, and lizards.  For those of you that know us at all you are not surprised one bit by the crib bedding we chose...
 Now that's AWESOME huh?!?!
It was such a beautiful shower and so neat to share the new baby boy with the family.  Thanks Aunt Penny and Aunt B.Jo.

Showered by Friends

My dear friend Julia threw me a fabulous baby shower!  And she made it just precious in every way.
Look at this adorable cake she made...
And the punch...with rubber duckies of course....
And the coolest diaper cake!  Look at this awesome motorcycle...now that's talent!

We played some great games including "do you know your baby food?" (which I won!) and "do you know your baby poop?".  Mom was trying really hard to figure that diaper out...
Sam loved celebrating her baby brother Chase!  She helped open every present, devoured cupcakes, and even ate some of the baby food.
It was perfect in every way!  Thank you Julia!
